It started at Christmas
For years, our family kept the same running email thread every December. A long, messy chain of who wanted what. Reply-all wishlists. Forwarded links. The occasional “wait, did someone already get that?” It worked, in the way that family traditions work: imperfectly, and with a lot of love.
But every app we tried to replace it with felt cold. Cluttered with ads, built for strangers, designed to sell you something instead of helping you see the people you love. None of them felt like us. So we quietly set out to make one that did.
Our little secret
For a long time, Needlist was just ours. A quiet thing we passed around the family at birthdays and holidays. It made gift-giving feel less like guessing and more like paying attention. It helped us celebrate each other.
It was simply how we cared for each other without ruining the surprise.

Why we're sharing it
We've always believed the giving itself is a small reflection of that. A way to say I see you, I know you. After years of holding it close, it felt selfish to keep something so good to ourselves.
So here it is. Needlist was built for our family, a way to love and celebrate one another with gifts we actually wanted. We hope it can be that, and more, for yours. Use it to plan, to surprise, to remember. Mostly, use it to celebrate the people you love.
It is, after all, more blessed to give than to receive.
